Bollywood Workshop with Ghyama Arts: Celebrating Creativity and Inclusion

Since 2021, Chocolate Films has had the pleasure of delivering filmmaking workshops with Ghyama Arts, a brilliant programme that provides high-quality creative experiences in theatre, film and circus. Ghyama Arts supports disabled adults attending the day service provision of the Bangladeshi Parents and Carers Association (BPCA) in Tower Hamlets and Newham, offering activities that build confidence, independence, and a strong sense of fun.

Building Skills and Confidence

At Chocolate Films, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to express themselves through the creative arts. Our workshops focus on empowering participants, many of whom have learning difficulties, to learn digital media skills in a supportive, relaxed and joyful environment.

With gentle guidance from our experienced facilitators, everyone has the chance to explore creative ideas and develop their technical skills at their own pace. This nurturing approach helps learners build confidence and become comfortable with the tools and techniques of filmmaking. Over the years, we’ve witnessed significant progress, as the participants have grown in confidence and enjoyed both filming and performing.

Introducing the Bollywood Movie Workshop

In response to the group's love for music and film, we developed a Bollywood Movie Workshop. This built on the success of our previous filmmaking and music video projects held in 2023 and 2024.

Together, we created a Bollywood-inspired love story—full of colour, movement and emotion.

We were fortunate to work with talented dance and music teachers who developed these aspects, which were then captured in the resulting film. Everyone had the chance to experiment with different creative shots, contributing their ideas and energy to a joyful, collaborative final film.

Extra Support for Every Learner

We understand that every participant has unique needs, and our team is dedicated to providing personalised support throughout the creative process. Whether someone requires extra time with equipment, more detailed explanations of techniques, or assistance in organizing their thoughts, our facilitators are ready to help. This extra layer of support ensures that every learner can enjoy the process, overcome challenges, and feel proud of their achievements.

Celebrating Unique Creativity

The workshop became a true celebration of the creativity and progress participants had made throughout the programme. Together, we created a colourful, Bollywood-inspired love story, combining music, movement, and storytelling. The finished film was shown at a screening for participants and support workers, a joyful moment that recognised everyone’s hard work. Working with Ghyama Arts and the BPCA community has been a deeply rewarding experience, and we were proud to share this creative journey with them.
