Chocolate Films Workshops has been running video production experiences for children and young people for over 25 years. We now run workshops week in week out throughout the year.
We run workshops in animation, script to screen short filmmaking, documentary, light painting and music video. The participants learn valuable creative and digital skills while having fun and producing their own content. We have won many awards over our years and our films have been screened at festivals in the UK and internationally.
Our facilitators extensive years of experience in workshop facilitation and all have safe-guarding training and DBS checks.
Chocolate Films Workshops is the sister company of the professional production company Chocolate Films Ltd. Since 2001, Chocolate Films has been producing video content for art galleries, charities and major brands. It is the only full service production company to hold a Royal Warrant from King Charles III.
Upcoming Workshops in Nine Elms Studio
Looking for something creative this school holiday? Our stop motion workshops for 8 to 12 year olds are hands-on, a bit messy and full of ideas.
Your child will bring characters to life, create cut-out animation and craft props and sets from card, paint and fabric. Then they'll plan their story with storyboards, just like the pros.
Stop motion is the technique behind films like Wallace & Gromit and Coraline. Using professional animation software, kids move their characters frame by frame and watch them come to life.
They'll leave with their own animated film, which we'll share privately with you, and a real sense of pride.
Led by experienced animators at Nine Elms Studio in central London. Holiday places go fast, so book early.
Christmas Holiday Animation Workshop (Ages 8–12)
Monday-Tuesday December 21-22 2026 | Nine Elms Studio, Battersea | 10am – 4pm
Get ready for two magical days of creativity, characters and movie magic this Christmas holiday! Step into the world of stop motion animation and bring your most festive ideas to life in our Christmas-themed animation workshop for young creatives aged 8 to 12.
Across the workshop, you'll experiment with different animation styles and work on shots for your very own mini Christmas short. Think mischievous elves, runaway reindeer or a snowman with a secret.
Expect hands-on fun with model making, voice acting, sound effects, scripting and filming, all in a supportive and collaborative studio environment. Whether you're a seasoned animator or just love getting creative, this workshop will build your skills and set your imagination free.
No prior experience is needed—just bring your imagination, a love for all things eerie, and a willingness to try something new.
Parents - desks are available…
We have a few desks available for parents who would like to work on a laptop during the session. Grab a coffee and use the precious time while the film studio gets into gear!

Film in a real production studio
Chocolate Films Workshops runs sessions from Nine Elms Studio, our high-spec production studio near Vauxhall Bridge, just 20 minutes from Soho. It's soundproofed, with a pre-lit rig and reliable broadband for streaming. Working content creators use the same space.
We run private group projects here, plus youth sessions at weekends and in school holidays.

All ages! We regularly run workshops for children and young people from primary school age through to sixth form, adapting content and equipment to suit the group. However we’ve worked with children as young as 2 and as old as 104!

Both. We run workshops on-site at your school, youth club or arts venue, and we also host groups at our production studio, Nine Elms Studio, in central London.

Yes. Every member of our team holds a DBS check and has completed safeguarding training before working with any group. Many are also first aiders.

Five core workshops: Stop Motion Animation, Script to Screen, Documentary, Music Video and Light Painting. Each is hands-on and led by working filmmakers. If you have an idea for a different workshop about photographic media or moving image do get in touch.

No. In line with guidance from the Internet Watch Foundation and the National Crime Agency, we don't post identifiable images or footage of children publicly. Public content uses illustration and animation, and we share real photos and videos privately and directly with parents and schools

We’re committed to keeping children safe online
We think making video is one of the most useful tool a young person can learn nowadays. It’s not just creative and fun, it’s an essential life skill. However the Internet isn't always a safe place for images of children and young people to live.
At Chocolate Films Workshops, our mission is simple: we want children and young people to make great content safely.
With regards to publishing content, we follow current guidance available as strictly as possible. This means we don't put footage or photos of children on our website or on our social channels.
After a workshop, we want the participants to proudly show their work. When we share films with schools and parents, we give clear advice on how to share that footage, so that there are no headaches further down the line.
