Summer has been very busy so far at Chocolate Films, and our week long term at Summerversity was no exception. We brought our 1000 Londoners documentary workshop to Platform youth centre in Islington for their summer programme of activities. Our small group of local young people worked their way through each of the camera crew roles and graduated as filmmakers!
Over the week we worked with a group of 13-19 year olds to make their very own films about 2 Londoners of their choosing for our 1000 Londoners flagship project. 1000 Londoners is our open submission award winning web series, that also happens to be the biggest documentary about a city, and we wanted the young people to be part of it. Throughout the week the group learnt how to use professional filmmaking equipment, storyboarding, interview skills, shooting and editing their very own film on Final Cut Pro X. The young people said they most enjoyed researching and interviewing the people they chose as their Londoners, and I couldn’t agree more-maybe it’s because we are all nosey parkers!
Chocolate Films can’t give away too many details, but I can tell you that the group chose JC, Co-Founder of Movember and John, a green grocer on Chapel Market. That is all you will get from us, you’ll have to wait for the screening!
The two films will be available to watch on 1000 Londoners in the coming weeks, with a lovely big screening on Friday 23rd September (times tbc). Stay tuned for more details!
Chocolate Films 1000 Londoners workshop was funded by Islington Council.
