Dates: Saturday 20th February Exhibition Opening 5.30 – 8pm

Sunday 21st February – Sunday 28th February 2016 11- 4.00pm

This exhibition presented by Chocolate FIlms uncovers true stories about Nine Elms residents. It reflects on the working class experiences from 1960s – 1980s. Bringing together human stories and heritage material, this exhibition is a fascinating insight into people’s home and work lives.

The exhibition showcases unique stories from local residents such as muralist Brian Barnes, Dennis one of the oldest flower sellers of New Covent Garden Market and Rita who fondly remembers working at Battersea Power Station.

Featuring six short documentaries about local life, exclusive images of Battersea Power Station (1980s)  and Wandsworth Museum artefacts.

The exhibition celebrates the culmination of a 14 month project supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund which aims to encourage young people to get involved in local heritage. Chocolate Films has worked closely with 20 young people aged 15 – 25 to curate the exhibition, build the project website, research and produce a new series of short films about Nine Elms residents. The exhibition will also be the launch of a new website which will continue to collect and showcase peoples’ memories from the area.

We welcome visitors to celebrate the launch of the exhibition at the opening on Saturday 20th February 5.30 -8.00pm for drinks and nibbles. The exhibition will be open to the public to look around on Sunday 22nd – Sunday 28th February from 11- 4pm.
This project is supported by Heritage Lottery Fund, Wandsworth Arts, Nine Elms on the Southbank, Wandsworth Museum and BAC.
