Wimbledon BookFest
This modern-day silent film about two very different groups of girls just goes to show that appearances can be deceiving.
This film was made on a ‘script to screen’ workshop, made by four groups of Year 10 students from local schools in Wandsworth and Merton, in their last week at school before the summer.
The young people had to go through the whole process of making a film; from story development and pitching ideas in groups to the Chocolate Films filmmakers, to prop making, producing & directing. The best pitches got their films professionally shot and edited by us. It was such a treat before the summer holidays plus it meant we got to spend the day at Wimbledon Film and TV Studios (home to the set of The Bill – back in the day!).

Watermans
The film was made by 6 young people aged 13-17yrs on a week long GoPro filmmaking working together with a parkour workshop, as part of Urban Ambush at Watermans in summer 2015.
Participants were given GoPro action cameras and were tasked with experimenting with the unique vantage points that the camera can provide. We worked with the young people to encourage them to be as active as possible by attaching the camera to their bodies using headbands and chest straps to capture the thrill of fast movements. We explored a variety of music video styles as well to encourage the participants to think about how the footage could be edited using effects, fast and slow motion and beat matching with the music. The group worked together with a Parkour workshop which was taking place at Watermans Art Centre at the same time to formulate a music video, directing the parkour group to get the shots that they needed.

One KX
This film is part of a series of stop motion animations made by a group of young people at One KX in the summer of 2013. Filmmakers from Chocolate Films facilitated the group and gave them the brief of making a short animated film on the subject of the future of food to tie in with Y Touring Theatre Company’s Future of Food project 2013/14.
The Ugly Veg-ling asks us to think again about how picky we are about how our food looks. Food waste is a huge part of our growing problem to feed our population, yet still we throw away tonnes of food each year which though edible, looks unappetising.

Kieler Kinderkulturburo

The children took the lead role in bringing these stories to life using stop motion animation. Over a two-day workshop, Chocolate Films facilitated the young participants to create their animation. The films were screened in a series of premiere screenings in each district of Northern Germany.
