Chocolate Films offers three nationally recognised accreditations which can be attached to any of our workshops to enhance the learning experience; Arts Award, ASDAN and AQA Unit Award.

Arts Award

This nationally recognised accreditation recognises young people’s development in the arts through creative challenges and sharing skills and achievements and looks great on young people’s CVs. We offer two different levels; Bronze and Silver. Both levels are available to young people aged 11 to 25. The Arts Award involves achieving an arts challenge, reviewing arts events, researching artists and arts organisations, sharing arts skills and/or delivering an arts leadership project with other people. Young people need to plan their work with an adviser and keep a record by creating their own Arts Award portfolio. Our portfolios take the form of a online blog and video diary.

ASDAN – Expressive Arts Short Course

ASDAN qualifications explicitly grow skills for learning, skills for employment and skills for life. During our ASDAN Expressive Arts Short Course participants take part in 10 – 60 hours of expressive and creative arts activities in filmmaking and new media. The flexibility of ASDAN’s Short Courses means they can be carried out in a variety of settings, over a time period to suit the individual or co-ordinating centre. Challenge descriptions can be interpreted and adapted according to the situation.
ASDAN is suitable for young people of all abilities, mainly aged between 13 and 19 (as well as adults and younger learners, where appropriate). It is especially good for young people with SEN as many of the activities are hands on and require little written work.

Because Short Courses are multi-level, the focus is on completing challenges and skills development according to individual ability, rather than attainment at a specific level.

AQA Unit AWARD

The Unit Award Scheme (UAS) is a unique recording of achievement scheme, rather than a qualification. It offers everyone the opportunity to have their achievements formally recognised – no matter what this is, how old they are, how long it takes or how small the learning step might be. We offer a range of Unit awards in filmmaking, animation, documentary, editing, sound recording and camera skills. This is a brilliant award as it requires little academic work and participants can keep adding more and more Unit Awards to their portfolio. It is especially good for young people with SEN as many of the activities are hands on and require little written work.
